Followed by Troy Graham on July 7, B-Side Growlers on Sunday July 10, and Blue Water Ramblers on August 18. Once again, Friends of Les Cheneaux Community Library is sponsoring a Little Free Art Gallery on the library grounds. The gallery is based on the Little Free Library concept of book sharing except in this instance it is art sharing. Art size is limited to anything smaller than 4”x”6 (postcard). All types of art are welcome. Stop by and have a look around—feel free to take a piece, leave a piece, or both. The only rule is that you can’t take the furniture or the patrons. Learn how ocean creatures move and get some exercise at the same time at our Ocean in Motion. Follow the activity cards found along our porch railing and do the motions for each sea creature. The Les Cheneaux Community Library has two 3-D printers and a Cricut Maker for patrons to use. Also available for check out is a keyboard, puzzles, puppets, audio books, DVDs and of course books. Help us monitor air quality! Become a citizen scientist and help monitor the air quality in our area by checking out our air quality monitor, so air quality data can be uploaded and shared, via the Internet. Check with Les Cheneaux Community Library for other activities. Call 906-484-3547 or visit our Facebook page. |
SUMMER READING PROGRAM: Did you know that oceans cover over 70% of Earth's surface?
Les Cheneaux Community Library, a Superior District Library, will explore “Oceans of Possibilities” this summer, encouraging readers to learn more about the many animals and plants found in oceans and the impact oceans have on our lives. With a summer of ocean themed books, programs and more, the library will dive into the summer with the Oceans of Possibilities summer reading program beginning June 1st. Children are welcome to complete a scavenger hunt throughout the library and then choose a stuffed sea animal (as long as supplies last) as a reading buddy this summer. There will also be a reading challenge, that when completed and returned to the library, will earn a prize. In addition to funding the Reading Buddies, Friends of Les Cheneaux Community Library will also be sponsoring Take and Make activities throughout the summer. Kits are available to all ages on a first-come, first-served basis while supplies last. Please check the Les Cheneaux Community Library’s Facebook page for up-to-date information on kits and activities available. COVID-19 Policy Update 6/25/21:
The Board of Trustees of the Superior District Library, of which Les Cheneaux Community Library is an affiliate, voted in their regular monthly meeting last evening to modify the mask policy for all SDL libraries. The policy has been modified to follow the recent MDHHS rescission of emergency orders. Masks are no longer required for entrance into SDL libraries. You are still welcome to wear them if you wish, and curbside pickup is still available if that meets your needs. We still ask that you do not enter the libraries if you are or have recently been ill and we ask that you continue to use the hand sanitizer provided and maintain distance between you and other patrons and staff not in your household. Thank you so much for your continued cooperation as we provide access to library materials and services while keeping everyone safe and healthy. |
