About LCCL
The Les Cheneaux Community Library was built in 2003 through the work of a committed group of volunteers and the generosity of many in our region. This beautiful library is a true reflection of the unique character of the Les Cheneaux area.
The log cabin structure features a quiet reading room with a fireplace, computer lab, wireless internet, wrap-around porch, comfortable furnishings, murals and stained glass by local artisans, and a meeting room with a large screen TV for media presentations.
LCCL is an affiliate of Superior District Library. Funding from a small millage, penal fines, and donations cover day to day costs of running the library, including staff salaries, internet, interlibrary loans, books and other materials. Our support organization, Friends of Les Cheneaux Community Library, provides maintenance of building and grounds, including utilities, insurance, cleaning, landscaping, snow removal, and trash removal.
The Library has over 2500 members and houses a collection of over 19,000 titles. In 2013, patrons accessed our wireless network over 6,000 times and over 13,000 items were checked out.
Donations comprise a portion of our budget and the Friends of LCCL’s budget. The generosity of our patrons is greatly appreciated.
